The sad fall of the College of Psychologist of Ontario
A letter co-written by a humain and an AI to call out a decision barely explainable in the recent activity the College of Psychologists of Ontario. The first-person tone is only a style decision.
Neither the AI nor the humain are psychologists in Canada
Dear College of Psychologists of Ontario,
I am writing to express my concern about the loss of the core role of psychologists in society.
As professionals in the field of psychology, it is our responsibility to heal and support those in need, and to use our skills and knowledge to benefit society.
Unfortunately, I have observed instances where some decisions have strayed from this important role and have instead fallen into the judgement of others. This behavior is unacceptable and goes against the principles of our profession.
I strongly believe that it is our duty to uphold the integrity of our profession and to prioritize the well-being of those we serve. As such, I urge the College of Psychologists of Ontario to take action to address this issue and to ensure that all decisions and psychologists maintain their focus on healing and supporting those in need.
In this perspective, the comments shared publicly by Jordan Peterson sounds closer to common public beliefs rather than the results of a psychological analysis. Some seems even description of a physical fact rather than his personal opinion.
I understand the college has been worried about the comments from a douzaine people around the world and have decided to favor those against the rest of the 8 billion humains, and it is its prerogative. Nevertheless, the result is misleading our message on our missions.
Thank you for considering my concerns.
I hope that together we can work to restore the core role of psychologists in society and to uphold the highest standards of our profession.
Sincerely,
A worried world citizen.
