Privacy protection will kill business data anonymizing
Business data #anonymizing is dead. This is the results highlighted in the study completed by 3 researchers in UK and Belgium: Julien Hendrickx Luc Rocher Yves-Alexandre de Montjoye.
While technics to revert anonymizing are getting better, alternate data privacy technics are also drastically improving. The study highlight the famous examples of reidentification such as Netflix leek case.
The frightening piece come from all the publicly disclosed data from anonymous health study, public transportation, insurance... which are not so confidential anymore.
One of the interesting path to fix this growing issue is coming from the technology used to protect privacy. Moving from obfuscation to homomorphic encryption offer an efficient protection of the data, allowing manipulation of the encrypted dataset outside the key domain while allowing full decryption only with the proper key.
Big push to modernize #cyberresilience approach, but also system design to really offer data protection.
Think encore.
